We work with children one-to-one and in small groups offering therapeutic support to help them explore and express their emotions.  Our staff and volunteers are trained to enable children to share their story and to feel heard in their emotions.  Based on Play therapy principles our therapeutic sessions help to give children a voice, and a safe way to communicate and express their feelings through the medium of play and creativity.

Our approach is based on Virginia Axline’s (1969) eight key principles, where we adopt a non-judgmental approach, allowing the child to lead the session at their pace, set clear boundaries appropriate to the needs of the individual and enable them to explore and express their emotions and have these validated.  In turn this helps the children express themselves and find ways of coping with their difficulties.

Our sessions can help children for lots of different reasons including children who have witnessed domestic abuse, dealing with family separation, drug and alcohol addictions, bereavement, diagnosis of physical and mental disabilities, bullying, low self-esteem, anger issues and/or family breakdowns.

Our service can help children build confidence, process their emotions, find a safe outlet to express themselves, develop self-awareness, build resilience, build trust, develop relationships and help overcome emotional blockages to learning and focusing in school.

Our sessions are confidential however we also recognize the importance of a holistic and systemic approach, so therefore provide termly reports on the impact we have seen through the sessions.  We also organize termly review meetings with teachers and parents to gain feedback on how they feel the child is doing, and explore best ways to continue or end the support moving forward.

As the therapeutic sessions are based on a relationship of trust we ask for schools to commit to a minimum of 12 sessions for each child.  Ideally within a school we ask for a minimum of 2 referrals and can take up to 5 referrals for a full days provision.   Please contact us for costs and availability.

We have been working in primary schools in Bracknell over the past four and half years – please see our testimonies page for more information about how schools value our services.

If you are looking for an independent, therapeutic service to support children in your school, please get in contact or complete our referral form.
