Catherine Hockley - CEO and Lead Therapist
Catherine is our CEO and founded the charity. She is a qualified Play therapist with 13 years experience of working therapeutically with children and young people. She has gone on to complete further studies in family therapy to become a systemic practitioner and NVR therapist. Catherine wrote and developed our therpuateic worker training and supervises the clinical work within the charity.
She loves the outdoors from walks in local parks to climbing mountains and feels closest to God whilst experiencing his creation.
Amanda Bickerton – Play Therapist
Amanda is an accredited child therapist with previous teaching experience and a Psychology degree. She is passionate about the positive effect therapy can have on children and adults, and continues to develop her knowledge in this area.
Amanda loves to travel, read and spend time with her dog. She also dabbles in martial arts, and is passionate about supporting social justice projects within church.
Stefania Cobbinah - Therapeuic Support Worker
Stefania has a BSc in Medical Science and Humanities along with an MSc in Child Public Health. She joined Create Hope in 2018 as a therapeutic play worker and is soon to start studying for her PTUK certificate in play skills. She works as a club manager for Energy Kidz and is passionate about seeing children reach their potential in all areas of life.
Stefania likes to read, listen to music and spend time with her family, and is involved in the Welcome and Kids team of Kerith Community Church.
Anne Douglas - Therapeutic Support Worker
Anne is a therapeutic support worker and trained in Theraplay® techniques. She has previously worked in media, PR and marketing as well as schools - helping to support and develop programmes for children with special needs. She has a Bsc in Social Sciences with Psychological studies and trained in various media for sensory impaired children and children on the autistic spectrum. She cares very deeply for giving children the opportunity to be supported and nurtured through therapeutic play.
Anne loves reading, travelling, family time and walking in the lakes!
Clare - Therapeutic Support Worker
Clare joined the Create Hope team in September 2018 and provides therapeutic play for after school sessions. She is passionate about children having their voice heard and to be able to reach their full potential through therapeutic play and continues to develop her knowledge in this area. She is a keen singer and loves cuddle with her dogs, as well as being an active member of Kerith Community Church serving at the Blackwater Valley site.
Jo Newman - Therapeutic Support Worker
Jo has a Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Arts in Education and works as a Therapeutic Support Worker. She joined Create Hope in January 2016 after working as a primary school teacher for a number of years. She is passionate about therapeutic services and is keen that they are accessible for all, recently starting her own business as a Therapeutic Art Worker.
In her spare time, Jo likes to take part in a variety of creative pursuits and is an active member of Kerith Community Church.
Jo Nicolaou - Therapeutic Support Worker
Jo has worked previously as a nanny, special needs assistant, play worker and primary school teacher. She is currently Special Guardian to two children and joined Create Hope in 2016 to further her knowledge and skills relating to supporting children. Jo provides therapeutic play within schools, and is passionate about all children having access to caring, non judgmental environments in order to help them grow and thrive as individuals.
Jo is a member of Kerith Community church and loves the outdoors, exercising, dancing, and all things beautiful.
Jo Romaine - Therapeutic Support Worker
Jo joined Create Hope in 2018 with a background in corporate sales and marketing. She is passionate about supporting the needs of others through her role as a Life Coach and Personal Trainer. Jo has a great understanding of the links between mind, body, soul and gut wellbeing and incorporates this knowledge as she builds on her skills as a therapeutic worker.
Jo is mum to 3 boys, and an active member of Kerith Community Church.
Terry Pocock - Trustee
Terry has worked as an accountant for many years in both the professional and private sector; UK and overseas.
He enjoys working with children through kids ministry in his church and has a passion for music.
Mark Sayers - Chair of Trustees
Mark is a chartered surveyor and businessman currently working for a property consultancy.
Out of work he enjoys playing an active part in several community organisations as a trustee of Henley YMCA, a founding trustee of Nomad (a charity working with marginalised youth and families) and as a leader within Henley Baptist Church.
His passions are his Christian faith, family and having outdoor adventures that generally involve large mountains!
Jo oversees the additional needs, TLG and adoption and fostering services at Kerith Community Church and also works as a family support advisor for a local primary school.
In her spare time Jo loves to read, walk her dog and eat out with friends and family.
Steph brings her experience of almost a decade of running the finance department at Yeldall Manor, a local Christian drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre.
She enjoys working with organisations that benefit people's lives.
She is married with two child and enjoys playing the piano and flute, speaking French and walking in Snowdonia.
